 South Korea was subjected to Chinese control until 1910 AD, then Japanese colonial rule began until 1945 AD, ie for a period of 35 years, when Japan's control over it ended when Japan surrendered to the Allies at the end of World War II. 

 Korea was divided into two parts: North Korea, which was founded on September 9, 1948, and South Korea, which was founded on August 15 of the same year, as the region was at that time under the influence of the Soviet Union and the United States. 

 South Korea was invaded by North Korea on June 25, 1950 AD, then negotiations began to end the war and armistice in 1951 AD by the United States and the United Nations, and China also intervened to support North Korea in the same year. 

 The demilitarized zone was formed, after peace negotiations ended on July 27, 1953 AD in the Panmunjom region. The government leadership of South Korea changed after the end of the Korean War, due to its internal instability during that period.

 South Korea experienced economic growth when Major Park Chung-hee received a military coup in the 1970s, but political freedoms were limited during that period.
 South Korea experienced internal instability again during the 1980s after Park was assassinated in 1979.

 South Korea was ruled by Roh Tae-woo from 1987 to 1992 when Kim Young-sam took power. South Korea has developed socially and economically and has become more politically stable since the early 1990s.
